Why it changes the house
A gutter line alone lights the bottom edge of the roof. The ridge is the top edge, the part you see from the end of the street and from the highway. Lighting both makes the roof read as a shape instead of a stripe.
Roped and walked
Ridges are steep and often icy by the time December arrives. We rope the peak, walk it with fall protection, and clip the run so wind cannot lift it. This is the part of the job that decides which company can actually do it.
